How It Started
Growing up, Halloween was a big deal in my house. My family would go all out with decorations and costumes, trick or treating until our pillowcases were too heavy to carry. My dad would make homemade chili and cornbread for dinner. It was by far my favorite holiday because it was uninterrupted family time and so many great memories were made.
As I grew up my love for Halloween only grew. I graduated CSULB with a bachelor's degree in Theatre Arts with and emphasis in scenic design. I took my love of theatre, the occult, design and painting and started Kaylas Curiosities. Being a struggling artist, I understood the feeling of wanting to live my gothic dreams and being on a budget. I believe in repurposing and upcycling, so my custom pieces are all thrifted and given a gothic face lift. I keep my prices reasonable because I believe that everyone deserves to have custom gothic decor that fits their personal style. Plus, the more I sell and share the more art I can create.
I love and appreciate everyone who has supported me through the ups and downs of being a small business owner, but I have to give special mention to my husband. I struggle with imposter syndrome, and he is always there to remind me that I'm a bad ass witch. He has been so supportive and uplifting even when I was I ready to throw in the towel. Thank you Handsome, I love you.
